Do much so my boyfriend made a point of taking me on opening night. It is a kids movie, but there adult subtexts in it. It had it all, laughter, family, friendship, heartbreak, love, fights, moral lesson and life lessons.

Loved that they kept the characters voices as well however I did not care for the fact they pulled TJ Miller off as tuffnut.
He has a serious funny impromptu skill set. His comedy comes off as silly and funny and harmless. This new character came off as abrasive and a little mean.
It did not seem warm hearted and funny as TJ. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? Also I thought snotlouts character was a bit off as well.
Usually he comes off less creepy than that and they did way too much w him and Hiccups mom. Otherwise the light fury and toothless adventure was awesome against the bad guy and how hiccup and Astrid married and both showed getting older and new generations.
That was totally sweet. The film will not be the same without his witty charming personality. Not sure we will watch much more.

I am going off the reaction that I got from my 14 year old daughter, I haven't watched the movie yet. I took her to see the first movie in the theatre when she was 5 years old.
She loved Toothless, as did I. She watched all the cartoon series, Riders and Defenders of Berk and the more recent Race to the Edge, then also the second movie.
She pretty much grew up with Toothless and Hiccup. She is so upset with this movie that I was shocked and felt the need to write this review.
I find it sad that it ended with the dragons leaving and near forgetting the people. She kept saying that there was no reason for them to leave, no matter how many different reasons I tried to come up with.
I was really trying to help her work through it and she was pretty much inconsolable. Sad that this is supposed to be a children's story with such a heartbreaking ending.

This 3rd film, in what has become a franchise, was eagerly anticipated by them after they had been sucked into the TV series since the previous instalment, from over 4 years ago..
The storyline and events in many aspects indeed follow the same trusted path as the previous instalments. However there is more character development here.
And the movie feels reasonably fresh. Frankly, I found it a pleasure to watch along with the children.
Moreover, quite unusual for a sequel in a successful franchise, this last part of the trilogy seems to end in a conclusive manner. We get some more background on the key character, Hiccup we learn how he is raised by his father Stoick the Vast, cheifman of Berk, ever sad after losing his wife.

And he has to search for the secret ancestral homeland of the Dragons, as the title suggests. Quite a few big actors have small funny roles and one of my favourite actors F Murray Abraham, voices the pretty disturbing bad guy.
The animation is brilliant. The dragons have been animated with a lot of detail and the overall animation seems to have seen an improvement over the past 2 movies.
The 3D version we ordered really puts you on the back of a dragon racing through the sky across magnificent Viking worlds.
